On the 13th and 14th December 2017, the project’s “Concept and Transfer” meeting was held in Stuttgart focusing on the EU-wide Open Call for Design Enabled Innovation projects. It was discussed that the three yearly rounds will be starting in early 2018. All calls will be published at the same time with three distinct deadlines to allow the participants with different submission dates for all three stages of the calls. It was agreed to create the project call selection process based on our common understanding about worth-supporting initiatives which focus on causing changes in new infrastructures.
The winning projects will get a combination of monetary aid and non-monetary aid, e.g. coaching, mentoring and workshops. During the meeting, we discussed the eligibility, selection and monitoring processes which include the following elements: scope, eligibility criteria, submission guidance, evaluation criteria, funding key dates, duration of each call, funding at each stage, rating and success criteria, priority areas, template for application, application management through platform, submission and evaluation of the applications, funding allocations to various urban challenges and monitoring of the project’s progress. The previous results from our work in the first year of the project will be incorporated in the development of the Open Call. It was further discussed that the outcomes of the project will be aligned with the theory of change. The priority will be given to the following urban challenges:
Sustainable use of resources
The call process will be finalised at the next Consortium meeting to be held in London, in early February 2018. The call will officially be launched at the ICE Conference in Stuttgart, mid-June 2018.
